BEFRIENDERS JWBS volunteers offer a helping hand and compassionate friendship to lonely, sick, or housebound people, often providing the only social interaction these people have. Spending an hour once a week having a chat, sharing a meal, enjoying a cup of coffee, reading a book, or simply listening has been found to be uplifting for
THE LUNCH CLUB Before the onset of Covid, The JWBS Lunch Club provided an opportunity for people to socialise and be entertained. Every Tuesday and Thursday members would meet in the beautiful Nosh Bar at Sandringham Gardens where they were served a hot three course kosher meal, followed by entertainment. Transport was provided wherever possible.
BRIDAL GEMACH The JWBS Bridal Gemacht, together with the Chevrah Kadisha, supplies a bride with a dress and other accessories for her special day. The retinue and mothers are also welcome to choose from a range of dresses for the occasion. Arrangements for hair and make-up can also be made. Due to COVID, this project
KNITTING JWBS volunteers knit beautiful squares! These squares are used to create beautiful warm blankets that are donated to Warm the World to distribute to the broader community.
BOOKS Each year generous donors donate thousands of wonderful books to the JWBS. Pre-covid these books were sold to the public at various book fairs at exceptionally reasonable prices. Proceeds from the sale of books were directly disbursed to beneficiaries of the JWBS. Since the onset of Covid, Boxes of Books have been distributed to
CLOTHING THE COMMUNITY In 2020, the JWBS provided over 3000 NEW clothing packs to its beneficiaries: men, women, and children in our community who previously visited the JWBS Clothing Depot to obtain gently worn clothing.
