Gifts
So very special this past year to give our recipients goodies for Chagim. Those who may have been given invitaitons and lifts in the past to Shul or family gatherings, have not had this since lockdown. Getting meals to those who cannot prepare for themselves is our basic function, but with your support, with the pyjama packs, jerseys, blankets etc, and now something for Purim, they know they are remembered and valued by our community. On behalf of the Union of Jewish Women….THANK YOU.
Dear JWBS
Just a short note, once again, to THANK YOU ALL for the PURIM unexpected and much goodies and Covid masks.
You ladies are wonderful, keep doing the wonderful and compassionate work that you do.
Being dependent on oxygen to breathe is not for the faint-hearted, and even less so when load-shedding is a recurring factor of life. The donation of a generator by the JWBS to a beneficiary experiencing extreme distress and anxiety whenever the electricity is turned off was greatly appreciated by him and his family: “Words cannot begin to describe how touched and thankful I am for your act of kindness. Giving our brother a generator to use, it helped eliminate the stress and anxiety he was experiencing due to the blackouts.
Thank you all for the incredible work that you do”.
Hi, Ladies of the Jewish Women’s Benevolent Society. I hope you are all well. I just want to thank you for the lovely parcel of clothing. It came on a day when I needed cheering up. All the items are divine. The ones that really stood out for me were the pajamas, gown, and most elegant shirt, with the most amazing attention to detail. I really appreciate the thought, care, and funds that went into this parcel.
I honestly am overwhelmed and overcome. The blankets for Arrow, the security guard dog at the cemetery, are top class, especially for winter. The treats are also top quality. I am going to put the treats in my freezer because they are going to last quite a long time and I will take out a little every Sunday when I visit him. Thank you to the JWBS for recognizing the value of voicelss precious Arrow who goes to all funerals as security. I want to hug you all.
This will be a new beginning for me!
Thank you so much!
Omg I don’t know how to say thank you and I am literally in tears. The jackets are beyond warm cozy and magnificent they are beyond appreciated thank you. The cosmetics are beyond words of appreciation I can’t express my gratitude enough. Thank you.
I would like to convey my deepest gratitude to your organization for helping me fix my smile. One night two weeks ago my front tooth broke off. I don’t have much confidence smiling to start with and when this happened it all became about trying to hide my teeth completely. It honestly means the world to me that you have helped to restore my smile. So, from the bottom of my heart, I just want to say thank you.
Thank you for the wonderful items, generously given to us, pyjamas for my wife and daughter and 2 pullovers in time for winter. We are overwhelmed and grateful for these gifts. Somehow thank you doesn’t seem enough.
Dear wonderful ladies of the JWBS Over the last two weeks I have been privileged to receive parcels of clothing, yummy goodies and now this very generous Pick ‘n Pay voucher. I know it is recognizing me and my workmates for our contribution to the community but on a personal level, I am so overwhelmed by this. I feel that THANK YOU VERY MUCH is not enough for all the stuff I have received and that the work I am doing is a calling for which I am grateful to the Chevrah Kadisha for, for giving me a chance to improve my life and that of my family. So a grateful thank you and blessings for health, safety, and happiness.
I am writing from the Chevra Kadisha to thank you all for the wonderful toiletries. It is much appreciated and very thoughtful. I am always thought of and I am truly very grateful.
Thank you so much for the beautiful duvet sets and linen, we are beyond grateful. The duvets are so warm. When I saw them I cried because kids duvets are in threads and we could never have bought these ourselves. We are so grateful for all your help and support. Thank you so much, may Hashem bless you all.
So grateful that I have a clean DRY blanket from the JWBS for Arrow tomorrow as battling to get anything dry in this weather. Have your treats for him too.
Once again, a delight to receive a Box of Books from the JWBS for our residents! Thank you so much
Good morning, it’s my pleasure (and responsibility) to help those who are struggling so much in these tough times. Thanks to you and your colleagues for the outstanding work that you do for the community.
Once again, a delight to receive books for our residents. Thank you so much. The activity pads are also so welcome, to fill the long hours. The residents were so happy to receive them.

Dear JWBS
I would like to thank you for your assistance.
I am very grateful and I do appreciate everything you do for me.
It has been a long time since I have had a full set of teeth. It would help me to smile again! I am so excited to hear this news. I do not know what to do with myself. I am at a loss for words.
Hashem is great! I have been wearing my mask religiously – it has been difficult for me to look in the mirror. That’s how bad it was having no front teeth.
I might even be able to go on a date with a nice lady after this!
I am sending this message on behalf of the Cemetery team to thank all of you for the wonderful toiletries. We really appreciate all you do for us and for always thinking of us.
Thank you
THANK YOU for the amazing pesach packs for the residents. They loved it so much. I took a sneaky peak – the activities are so incredible and well thought.
I have not been able to purchase anything for myself for years and I am so thankful to you all and overwhelmed by your generosity. Tonight, I am going to sleep warmly in these gorgeous pyjamas and in the knowledge that there are incredible people and organisations out there, such as yourselves, that care about me and my children. We thank you and thank Hashem from the bottom of our hearts.
Good afternoon
I was so surprised this afternoon when some parcels arrived for us.
The contents were wonderful and will keep us cooking and baking for a long time. I am ecstatic that I will be able to teach a few people at a time how to do/make stuff as there was more than one item of what we needed.
All I can say is Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom and all over my heart.
Good day
Almost 3 years ago I was diagnosed with high-risk prostate cancer and was put onto hormone treatment although it is not a cure and works as an inhibitor to stop the cancer from spreading from the prostate to the bones and lymph nodes. Unfortunately, it has spread and is now at stage 4 PC. Recently I was prepped for radiation and then the fire broke out at Charlotte Maxeke Hospital and my treatment was put on hold. Because of your unwavering efforts, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kind assistance so that I can continue with the programme. GOD BLESS the Jewish Women’s Benevolent Society.
On behalf of Jaffa in Pretoria a huge thank you to the Jewish Women’s Benevolent Society for the endless supply of great books and gifts we have received during lockdown.

Today I was thrilled to receive a wonderful parcel of sleepwear from the Jewish Women’s Benevolent Society. I haven’t been able to buy anything for myself for so long and am enormously grateful to all of you for your incredible kindness and generosity. I will sleep snugly tonight in these amazing pyjamas, knowing that there are special people and organisations out there, such as yourselves, that care. Thank you all.
I WOULD JUST LIKE TO SAY THANK YOU VERY MUCH TO THE JEWISH WOMEN’S BENEVOLENT SOCIETY FOR THE JERSEYS. I REALLY APPRECIATE IT A LOT.
One of the few organisations the work of the boys behind the scenes, those of us who work at the cemetery. Thank you very much. I see the happiness that your good deeds bring to my soldiers.
I would like to once again the Jewish Women’s Benevolent Society for everything you have done and are doing for Sandringham Square.
I would like to thank the JWBS for sponsoring payment for the work on my teeth. Unfortunately I have been unemployed for the past 2 year and I have had to turn to you for assistance. Now I will hopefully be able to attend interviews with a set of teeth. At this time of the pandemic, things are very hard. I really appreciate the assistance you have given me in getting my teeth sorted out.
